The ripple effect
The Indigenous Marathon Foundation uses running to unlock strength, resilience and amplify leadership in First Nations peoples. It’s about more than marathons — it’s about fuelling role models, stronger communities and a healthier nation.
Charlie Maher, IMF’s first-ever IMP graduate and proud Western Arrarnta man, is proof of what’s possible. He made history as the first Indigenous Australian to earn a Six Star Medal and is running his seventh Abbott World Marathon Major at the TCS Sydney Marathon in August with fellow graduates Bianca Graham and Natasha Leslie.
Ambassadors Johnathon Thurston and Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin are also running together in support of IMF’s mission. They’re on track for the TCS New York Marathon, along with the 2025 IMP squad.

Your donation amplifies impact
Your donation helps to strengthen the impact of IMF initiatives, scaling First Nations-led programs that close the gap in health, education and opportunity. Building a stronger, united Australia. Here are the two main programs you’ll be supporting:
IMF RAW brings people together — walking, running, and supporting each other towards better health and stronger communities. With 50+ groups already thriving, more are waiting to join. You’re not just giving to a program — you’re backing community strength, culture and belonging.
I-CAN works in remote First Nations primary schools and communities to provide children with access to fun and educational health and fitness programs, encouraging school attendance and addressing childhood obesity and inactivity. Your support ensures more children have the chance to learn, play and grow strong together.
